James D. Pettit, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, in Aventura, Fla., after a
sudden illness. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be one hour
before the service on Saturday at the chapel. Entombment, with military rites, will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife, Myrta; his daughter, Cristie Pettit-Ernzen and husband Jerome, and granddaughter, Erica, of Cedar Rapids; and his siblings, Dorothy Carson, Doug Pettit and Darryl Pettit. .
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
He retired from Rockwell-Collins after 29 years of service. Post retirement, Jim enjoyed traveling, especially to Punta Cana with family and friends.
Jim enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and hunter. Twice a week he played bridge at two local card clubs. But Jim's truest joy was spending time with his only granddaughter, Erica.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
