A Cedar Rapids woman who walked away from a halfway house earlier in the week was apprehended by authorities this afternoon.
Bill Kiesau, a supervisory deputy with the U.S. Marshals, confirmed that Candace Lint left the Gerald R. Hinzman Center at some point earlier in the week. Kinzman said the 22-year-old would spend tonight at the Linn County Jail.
“I don't know why she walked away, we'd have to ask her why she walked away,” said Kiesau.
Kiesau said more information might be available tomorrow.
Lint, 22, of Cedar Rapids was convicted in 2008 for stealing a U.S. Marshal's vehicle that had a rifle in it. Last summer she led police on a high-speed chase through northeast Cedar Rapids. Following that pursuit a federal judge ordered her to be put under the supervised custody of the U.S. Marshal's Service.
Since then she's been at several correctional facilities, most recently the Hinzman Center.
