Clinton plans Cedar Rapids rally Friday

CEDAR RAPIDS - Hillary Clinton will make her first general election visit to Cedar Rapids on Friday to encourage early voting.
The Democratic presidential nominee last campaigned in Iowa on Sept. 29 - the first day of early voting in the state. On Friday, she will hold a campaign rally to lay out what's at stake in the election. Specifics of the visit, including time and place, haven't yet been announced.
With polls showing Clinton gaining support in swing states and even some traditionally red or Republican states, she has expanded her travel plans hoping to score a victory that will be seen as a mandate for her presidency.
She also is looking to support Democratic candidates in down-ballot races. Iowa 1st Congressional District challenger Monica Vernon of Cedar Rapids, whose race against Republican Rep. Rod Blum is within the margin of error, would fit that bill.
