NFL’s double standard is confusing to fans

Another case of domestic violence in the National Football League. This one hits home for me because I happen to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

So running back Kareem Hunt is released after a video surfaced showing him behaving violently toward a female at a Cleveland hotel in February. Why did this take 10 months to become an issue?

Don't get me wrong, he should have been released. No question there. But what I do have an issue with is that about 10 days before this Reuben Foster of the San Francisco 49ers was arrested on similar charges in Tampa, Fla., and released from the team about two days later. But then the Washington Redskins signed him two days after that.

The NFL is a business and is in it to make money. But what is the ultimate cost? Why the double standard?

The Redskins have said they are not sure whether Foster will play, pending the outcome of his investigation. Regardless, I find even signing him to be ridiculous. This same organization also employs Adrian Peterson, who has openly admitted to disciplining his son in a less-than-stellar manner. He didn't play for Washington at the time, but to me that is not the issue. Adults can walk away, children don't have that luxury.

I just don't understand. It seems like the NFL is the only professional league that has these issues.
