Richard "Rick" Holub, 64, died Monday evening, May 2, 2016, at the Ed and Donna Hemphill Hospice, St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
Surviving are two brothers, Tom and Blaine, both of Prairieburg; two aunts, Joann (Jerry) Ray of Centerville and Viola Finn of Cascade; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard Louis Holub was born on Jan. 16, 1952, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Louis and Bernice Finn Holub. Rick graduated from Anamosa Community Schools in 1970. He started farming with his father and brothers. He was a 40-year member of the Holstein Association. Rick loved to socialize after the farm work was done. He enjoyed playing cards and softball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
