Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said Ricky Stanzi had surgery
Nov. 10, 2009 2:04 pm
Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday that quarterback Ricky Stanzi will miss the next two games after undergoing surgery Monday on his injured right ankle.
On the weekly Big Ten Coaches Teleconference, Ferentz confirmed red-shirt James Vandenberg will start Saturday at Ohio State.
Ferentz said Stanzi is "very, very doubtful" to play the next two weeks. As for Stanzi in a bowl game, Ferentz said, "there's a good chance, but I'm an optimist."
Ferentz didn't say much about a touchdown getting called back against Northwestern because of a questionable holding call on center Rafael Eubanks.
"Holding calls get called all the time," Ferentz said. "It was unfortunate."
