James T. Higham, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in St. Luke's Hospital. Graveside services are set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 First Ave. SW.
Survivors include his children, Jean (Steve) Sergeant of San Jose, Calif., Joann Higham of Waterloo, James E. (Becky) Higham of Atkins and Jackie (Mark) Dolter of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Badenoch) Higham; three brothers and a sister.
Jim was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James and Wilma Mae (Trusley) Higham. He was united in marriage to Nancy on June 22, 1957. He retired from Rockwell Collins after 27 years of service.
He raced midget and sprint cars for 22 years and was an aviation enthusiast. Jim served in the Army Air Corps at the end of World War II.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
