Taylor’s behavior was dispicable

To the editor:
Iowa State Rep. Rob Taylor and his colleagues who did not attend the April 9 morning prayer in the Iowa House owe the people of this state an immediate, contrite, apology. The House members who failed to appear behaved disgracefully; Taylor, by turning his back on Wiccan priestess Deborah Maynard, behaved in an egregiously despicable manner.
Taylor and the others have betrayed their duty to represent all Iowans, not just those who adhere to their faith. They have made very clear their utter, irreconcilable contempt for the secular heritage of this nation. They have stated, through both word and deed, their abhorrence of any path to spirit other than their own.
The Iowa Republican Party owes Iowans an explanation and an apology; that party's future depends on showing all of us it can govern for our benefit, and not be a degenerated instrument of sectarian oppression, by disciplining these elected officials. Such discipline, and this letter, do not infringe on 'religious freedom.” It is 'accountability,” it is me defending my and others' free speech and freedom of and from religion.
