Fire investigators will look for clues today after two fires broke out within minutes Thursday in the tiny Benton County town of Garrison.
Firefighters responded around 12:30 a.m. to a mobile home just west of County Road V66. Just a few minutes later, a neighbor alerted them to another fire about a block south at 402 West Maple St.
No injuries were reported in either fire.
Garrison Fire Chief Steve Meyer said the second fire did no damage, but the fire at the mobile home was much more serious.
"The entire west end of the trailer was fully engulfed in flames," Meyer said.
Meyer said the trailer and contents inside were deemed a total loss. He said a person who had belongings there was not staying there at the time. The house at the site of the second fire was also vacant.
Meyer said the fires are "definitely" considered suspicious. He said a representative of the state fire marshal's office would investigate.
