Mary Marie Kidd of Cedar Rapids died suddenly Friday, March 13, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by Paul Johnson. Burial: Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her son, Doug (Doreen) Kidd of Port Orange, Fla.; her daughter, Stacy (John) Michalec of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jason (Margaret) Kidd of Illinois, Jeremy (Abby) Kidd of Pasco, Wash., Aaron Kidd (Jess Zaugg) of Port Orange, Fla., and Sarah (Tim) Fisher of Waverly; nine great-grandchildren; her siblings, Agnes (Paul) Wilkenson, Daniel Mahoney, Bill (Barb) Mahoney, Joanne Webster, Peg (Ken) Kirby, Ed (Connie) Mahoney and Sherri (Mike) Mooney; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and a brother, Ray Mahoney.
Mary was born May 14, 1940, in Independence, the daughter of Daniel and Velma Postel Mahoney, and married George Kidd on Dec. 6, 1960, in Independence. He died May 31, 2009.
Mary and her husband were avid gardeners and enjoyed the time together working outdoors. Her family was important to her and she enjoyed the time they would spend together. Mary enjoyed working on puzzles and as an avid animal lover, she loved the companionship of her pets.
