KENNETH M. ELAM Marion Kenneth M. Elam, 70, of Council Bluffs, passed away March 18, 2017. Ken was born April 6, 1946, in Montezuma, the son of Kermit and Ruby (Tolley) Elam. Ken graduated from Linn-Mar High School, Marion, in 1964. In 2012, he was inducted into the Linn-Mar Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a 1968 graduate of Iowa State University and a member of Phi Kappa Phi fraternity. Ken and Charlotte (Cooper) Elam have three children, which they raised in Council Bluffs. He was a sports fanatic and lifelong New York Yankees fan, an outdoor enthusiast, avid hunter and fisherman. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Throughout his career as a teacher, coach and athletic director, he influenced many lives. Ken is survived by his mother, Ruby Petrusch; brother, Kermit Elam (Kay); daughter, Darci Elam (Mark Conway); son and daughter-in-law, Brett (Angela) Elam; son, Eric Elam (Dee Ann Husa); four grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, Megan and Easton Elam; two nephews, Scott and Brian; and one niece, Mary Kay. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Elam; and stepfather, Pete Petrusch. Visitation will refreshments will be held Saturday, March 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, Council Bluffs. Attire is casual but camouflage is welcome in his memory.
