HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - The dean of Dartmouth College has resigned 20 months after taking office.
Provost Barry Scherr announced the resignation, effective this week, for Tom Crady. Scherr gave no reason in his e-mail to the Dartmouth community, but said he believed the decision to leave had been a difficult one for Crady and his family.
The Dartmouth reports Sylvia Spears, acting senior associate dean of the college, will take over as dean for two years, at which point the college will begin a national search to permanently fill the position.
Scherr said Tuesday that Crady plans to return to Iowa. He had served as vice president of student services at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, before coming to Dartmouth.
