Abodeely, Kenneth Nicholas

MARION - Kenneth Nicholas Abodeely of Marion left this life on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Mike Morgan will officiate. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the chapel after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Ken was born to the Rev. Thomas and Ida Abodeely on March 25, 1921. He graduated from McKinley High and had completed two years at Coe College when he was drafted into the U.S Army during World War II. He served four years with the Dental Corps as a technical sergeant at Fitzimmons Hospital in Denver, Colo. He met his wife, the former Joyce Harris, at the U.S.O. They celebrated their 65th anniversary on Feb. 4. Upon his discharge, he entered Paris Academy and became a hairstylist for both men and women. He owned Ken's Family Stylon in Cedar Rapids for 44 years.
Ken's greatest pleasure in life was studying God's word and sharing it with others.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Alma Ellis, Ramza Sturgeon and Vivian Nemer.
Those remaining to honor his memory are his wife, Joyce; son, Mark (Kay) of Rowley; grandson, Christian (Kim), and great-grandsons, Caden and Caleb, of Layton, Utah; grandson, Ryan (Patience), and great-granddaughters, Jewel and Jadyn, of Center Point; grandson, Jared (April) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Paul (Kris), and granddaughters, Alexandra and Sydney, and grandson, Maxwell, of Lisbon; son, John, and grandson, Joshua, of Cedar Rapids and grandson, Aaron of Marion. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicki (Dr. Robert) Sedlacek and Loretta Haddy of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, George of Marion.

Joyce and family would like to thank Hospice of Mercy for their love and expertise, especially nurse Jenny. Thanks to Comfort Care and especially Caroline for their faithfulness. Many thanks to those who so willingly gave of their time for respite care. God bless you all.
