Mike was born Aug. 4, 1967, in Iowa City, and grew up in Robins. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Kennedy High School where he was active in vocal music and was team manager for the boy's basketball program for two years. He was a Cub and Boy Scout in the Robins Pack and Troop 69. He was in the choir at Bethany Lutheran Church from seventh grade through 12th grade.
Mike started working at Iowa Fluid Power in April 1985 where he continued to work as marketing/sales director until his passing. His family and career were his passion.
Mike moved to Des Moines in 1990 to be a salesman for IFP. Prior to moving, he served as a Linn County Special Deputy for four years and was a member of the Robins Volunteer Fire Department.
On June 29, 1996, he married Beverly Boustead. In 1999, their daughter Megan was born. Mike wanted Megan to grow up close to family and in April 2000, they moved to Robins where Mike grew up. After moving back, he served on the Robins Planning and Zoning Commission and the Robins City Council. He also chaired the construction of the new Robins Public Safety Center.
Mike always offered a helping hand and made friends everywhere he went. He was loved and respected by anyone who was privileged to know him. We will all miss him greatly.
