Lora Mae was born Aug. 12, 1930, daughter of George and Thelma (Morgan) Morris in Boone, Iowa. She was a 1948 graduate of Boone High School. Ike went on to pursue nursing at Marshalltown Deaconess Hospital but decided to pursue other interests. On June 25, 1950, Ike married the love of her life, Richard Ward, in Winterset. Together they had three children, Linda, Robert and Richard III. Ike was a deputy for the Cedar County Sheriff's Department, but spent the majority of her working years as clerk for the City of Tipton.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tipton. Ike was a past Grand Matron of the Eastern Star and had volunteered as a judge for the Cedar County Fair's Food Pantry entries. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed NASCAR and had a special love for the community theatre, where she performed a few times. Ike's husband, Dick, was her world, and she spent almost every moment of their nearly 65-year marriage lovingly at his side.
Ike is survived by her husband, Dick, of Mechanicsville; daughter, Linda (Bob) Van Nostrand of Fairfield; sons, Bob (Judy) Ward of Marion and Richard (Kay) Ward III of Knoxville, Tenn.; good friend, Gary Sulzner ("the 4th") of Tipton; sisters, JoAnn (Gene) Martin, Helen (Bob) Farr, Lois Steigerwalt and Marilyn Moravetz; brothers, Warren (Deb) Morris, Paul Morris, Phil (Betty) Morris and Gale (Judy) Morris; grandchildren, Sean (Mary) Hannes, Lyle (Josie) Hannes, Tracie Feeser, Toni (Clint) Drake, Elizabeth (Josh) Birdwell and Kathryn (Rob) Sands; and great-grandchildren, Brittney, Brennan, Emily, Dylan, Victoria, Eric, Danielle, Jace, Teague, Keegan, Kolby, Jason and Chase.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George W. Morris, David Morris and John D. Morris; sister-in-law, Shirley Morris; and brothers-in-law, George Steigerwalt and Kenny Moravetz.
