Monica L. Stauffer, 46, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with a time for sharing at 6 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.
Monica was born April 10, 1971, to Gary and Hildred (Lundgren) Harken in Britt, Iowa. She graduated from Algona High School in 1990. In December of 1992, she married David Stauffer at First Presbyterian Church in Algona. In the fall of 1999, the couple moved to Belle Plaine, where Monica worked at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.
Monica was a mother to all, feeding the neighborhood kids with all of her baked goods. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word finds, her TV programs and taking care of dogs. Monica loved being a full-time grandma, taking care of her granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, David, of Belle Plaine; children, Richelle (Nathan) Taylor of Brooklyn and Brett Stauffer of Belle Plaine; sister, Mynet (Bruce) Anderson of Trimont, Minn.; grandchildren, Samara, Brice and Austin Taylor; stepmother, JoAnn Harken of Algona; and dog, Riley.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Monte Harken; and aunt, Evelyn Harken.
