Susan E. Matheny, 61, of Solon, peacefully went to Heaven surrounded by family on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Luke's Hos-pital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include her husband, David of Solon; her children, Matthew (Lizz), April and Ellen Matheny and Andrew (Anna); and a sister, Sally Pospishil, all of Cedar Rapids. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Adam and Ashlie; and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ted.
Susan was born Feb. 7, 1953, the daughter of Carl and Agnes Hostak Pospishil. She married David A. Matheny on April 16, 1977, in Cedar Rapids. Susan worked for College Community School District and retired from there in 2013. She truly enjoyed working with her colleagues and students.
Susan was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Swisher, and de-livered Thanksgiving meals for Aging Services.
She was loving, caring and a very generous person. Susan's greatest joy was her family which she always put first. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the cardiac staff at St. Luke's for their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established.
