Timothy Patrick Kelly, 71, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed to his eternal reward at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Latin Requiem Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery, Charles City. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary begins at 6:30 p.m.
Tim was born Dec. 22, 1946, in Henry, Ill., grew up in Charles City, Iowa, with his seven brothers and sisters, and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1965 as valedictorian of his class. Tim received an appointment to West Point Military Academy and subsequently attended and graduated magna cum laude from Notre Dame University and later as a captain in the U.S. Army.
Tim had a long career in information technology services as owner and operator of Computer System Support in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was passionate about his Catholic faith and attending the traditional Latin Mass. He was a voracious reader and spent most of his spare time in this pursuit.
Tim is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Kathleen Kelly of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kevin (Lynne) Kelly of Castle Pines, Colo., Nelly Kelly (Randy) Bodeen of Mason City, Iowa, Michael (Gloria) Kelly of Dyersville, Iowa, Patrick Kelly of Quito, Ecuador, Maryellen Kelly Carr of Anamosa, Iowa, and Christopher (Brenda) Kelly of Marion, Iowa; 27 nieces and nephews; and 40 great-nieces and -nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Genevieve Kelly; and two nieces, Kelly and Heather Sigler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
