Lucille Healey, 92, of Victor, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Rose Haven Care Center in Marengo.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor with the Rev. Brian Shepley presiding. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Victor following the service.
Memorials may be directed to the Lucille Healey Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.
Lucille was born on May 10, 1923, to John and Clara Sauer Smith in Simpson Minn. She was raised in Rochester, Minn., and graduated from Rochester High School with the class of 1941. She enlisted with the U.S. Navy after graduation and held a ranking of Pharmacist Mate, 3rd Class. While serving her time in the military, she met Harry Healey, and the couple was married on Feb. 23, 1945, in Astoria, Ore. To this union six children were born.
Lucille was honorably discharged from the naval service in 1945 and the couple moved to Victor, Iowa, where she was employed at the United States Postal Service for several years, working alongside her husband. After retirement, the couple remained in Victor, where she was involved in several community services. She was an active member of the American Legion as well as the American Legion auxiliary, Altar and Rosary Society and the Marian Study Club.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, James (Mickie) Healey of Liscomb, Iowa, Patricia Healey of Victor, Carol (Robert) Vaughn of Leesburg, Fla., Steven Healey of Oxford, Harry (Rhonda) Healey of Cedar Rapids and Edward Healey of Victor; sisters, Elaine Morse and Patricia Taylor of Rochester, Minn.; sister-in-law, Doris Oldaker of Monticello; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Healy Sr.; four brothers; six sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Brook Healey.
