Janice Hefti Taylor, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Dr. Darran Whiting. Family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Richard D. Taylor; daughter, Shelly (Joe) McVay of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Morgan McVay of Omaha, Neb.; brother, James (Sharol) Hefti of Algona; sister-in-law, Patricia Taylor of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Mark Taylor, in 2009.
Janice was born March 25, 1936, in Luverne, Iowa, daughter of Edwin and Irene (Daggy) Hefti. She worked for the Linn County supervisors until her retirement. On June 24, 1955, Janice married Richard Taylor in Luverne. She was an officer in Business Professional Women, a 50-year member of Linn County Democrats, a member of Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine, Cedar Rapids Planning and Zoning Commission, Heritage Council of Aging and Buffalo United Methodist Church.
She supported her children by being active in their school PTAs and activities. Janice networked long before the term was coined and many will remember benefiting from her calls to friends on their behalf. She was a campaign manager for her husband, Dick, and was a hardworking team member.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association.
The family would like to give a grateful acknowledgement to Janice's angels at West Ridge Care Center and Hospice of Mercy for their superb care.
