Let's get right at it.
Three of Iowa's four scholarship QBs are on the field. CJB is out in sweats and seems to be doing everything QB OK. Again, they're not doing gymnastics out there.
- True freshman Ryan Boyle isn't on the field. He has dressed for every game. I don't not know what's going on. Please, try not to overreact (some of you).
TE Jake Duzey is out there. Kirk Ferentz said on his radio show Wednesday night that he's not 100 percent. I think they thought he might be. Remember, he's coming back from a patellar tendon tear. NY Giants WR Victor Cruz had that last season and still isn't playing. Duzey had his in March. It's a long road. Gauge your expectations appropriately.
- Three RBs on the field who'll carry the ball: Akrum Wadley, Derrick Mitchell and LeShun Daniels. I think Daniels plays and plays a lot. Remember, he was a terror in the first half against Iowa State before suffering a high-ankle sprain. He might be back to that LeShun Daniels today. That was a good LeShun Daniels. You want that LeShun Daniels.
You also want Wadley. And, hey, I know how some of you think and I know you want to see some Mitchell.
Also, senior RB Jordan Canzeri is on the field. He's not playing, but after suffering a high-ankle sprain against Northwestern, he's also not wearing a boot. So, that's a positive. Maybe he's back sooner rather than later.
- Zach Johnson is on the radio. You know who he is. I think he's in the convo for Iowa's greatest sportsperson. Maybe No. 1. Two majors. We had this convo on Twitter. Bob Feller came up. That's a pretty good one. Nile Kinnick, of course. Those three. Kurt Warner, pretty good, too. Dan Gable . . . on and on.
- Kickers are out. There was a decent wind from the south, but the flags here are lifeless now.
I'm just going to leave this here and let it lay, but I haven't seen kicker Mick Ellis since the opener (at least I don't think I have). The backup kicker has been redshirt freshman Miguel Recinos.
Punter Dillon Kidd has quietly put together a great year. All-Big Ten caliber.
- This pregame has seemed to have lost momentum. I don't know if kickoff has changed or what. This specialist period feels as though it's been an hour.
- KF on the radio: Not going to be 100 percent until January, that's just the way football is. He did say that CJB threw the ball well in practice this week. I've written all along that I believe his injuries linger. Muscle injuries in the 'girdle” area just tend to do that.
- Receivers in uniform: VandeBerg, Tevaun Smith, Jerminic Smith, Jay Scheel, Hillyer, McCarron, Bishop, Nash, Keane, Ogwo, Falconer, Parker, Stone, Andre Harris.
- TEs: HKC, Duzey, Kittle, Wisnieski, Pekar, Vejvoda, 98. Don't see Jameer Outsey.
- Canzeri is out. OT Ike Boettger is out (Butt-gur). Daniels is back. Tevaun Smith is back, close to 100 percent. Duzey is a wait and see.
- Senior DT Darian Cooper is dressed, but not going through contract drills. He's not playing. KF has basically said his career is over. Chronic knee injuries and pain.
- Myers is starting LT. He's been out since late in the first quarter against North Texas on Sept. 26 with a neck/shoulder stinger. The wait was regaining strength. He made it through practice and here he is.
- No. 2 D-line: Spears, Ekakitie, Terlouw and Nelson.
- No. 2 OL: Ward, Daniels, Simmons, Dalton Ferguson and Keegan Render (I haven't seen Steve Ferentz for awhile. I think he must be hurt.)
- From Iowa sports info: IOWA'S DILLON KIDD NOMINATED FOR RAY GUY AWARD
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta Sports Council has announced the nominees for the 2015 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation's top collegiate punter. Among the 79 candidates is the 2014 Ray Guy Award is University of Iowa senior Dillon Kidd. Candidates were nominated for the award by their school's sports information department.
Kidd is averaging 44.8 yards on 33 punts through seven games. His 44.8 yards per punt ranks third in the Big Ten and 18th nationally. The native of Deerfield Beach, Fla., has 10 punts of 50-plus yards, which ties for fourth in the Big Ten.
- BTW, a replica of the Heroes Trophy is on display at Iowa City area Hy-Vees for the next few days.
According to Hy-Vee, a replica of the trophy will be at a different Hy-Vee store each day, where customers also will have the chance to register to win tickets to the game.
Here's the remaining schedule on that:
Oct. 31 Hy-Vee, 812 S. First Ave. Iowa City, Iowa
Nov. 1 Hy-Vee, 1125 N. Dodge St. Iowa City, Iowa
- OK, 20 minutes to kickoff.
