Betty Lou Schmidt, 84, of Marion, Iowa, and Laguna Vista, Texas, passed away March 1, 2016, in Harlingen, Texas.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Betty was born May 12, 1931, in Nebraska City, Neb., to C. Milton and Lena (Cook) Whited. She married Donald Schmidt on Jan. 10, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Donald Schmidt; three sons; twin daughters; three stepsons; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Earl Whited and Ralph "Don" Whited.
Betty belonged to several ladies clubs in the Cedar Rapids and South Padre Island areas, including South Padre Island Neighbors (SPIN) and Life Investors/AEGON Retirees luncheon club. She enjoyed playing cards, entertaining friends, cooking and family get-togethers.
