Dorothy M. Topf, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Dorothy was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Ida Grove, Iowa, to Ben and Christina (Arnts) Lansink. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City in 1958, and went on to work at Mary Greely Hospital in Ames and later Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
She was united in marriage to Philip Topf on Nov. 24, 1958, in Ida Grove. To this union, five children were born. She was an active church member at St. Pius X Catholic Church and a longtime choir member. She lived with Parkinson's disease for over 45 years.
She loved hosting family gatherings and spending time with her 12 grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking, sewing, playing piano and bridge and gardening. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Philip; five children, Paul (Judy) Topf of Cedar Rapids, Rick (Dianne) Topf of Orange, Calif., James (Molly) Topf of Windsor Heights, Mary Topf of West Des Moines and Curtis (Anne) Topf of Cedar Rapids; and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Bernice Miller, Richard Lansink and Leona Breaman.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
