Lloyd W. Jordan, 81, of Marion, passed away April 30, 2017, at his home on the family farm. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, Jordan's Grove Cemetery, rural Central City. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Marion Christian Church, Marion, conducted by Pastor Peter Mitchell. A meal will begin immediately following the services.
Lloyd Willis Jordan was born Oct. 18, 1935, on the farm in Linn County, Iowa, to James M. and Avalda Willis Jordan. Lloyd graduated from Marion High School, Class of 1954, and valued the lifelong friends he made there. He was a three-year letterman in football and track. He was a 160-pound Golden Glove boxing champion. Lloyd was involved in 4-H for many years, where he showed Angus cattle in Linn County and state and international shows. He was also a longtime 4-H leader. Lloyd was proud to be a fifth-generation Linn County farmer, and the tradition continues with his son and grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Sills Jordan; his children, Jeff and Marcia Jordan, Laurie Copper and Amy and Mike Hamilton; his grandchildren, James Jordan and Holly Ryan, Ashley and Jim Fitzgerald, Spencer and Amber Jordan, Kim and Jon Bullock, and Jay, Sarah and Will Hamilton; his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Claire Fitzgerald, and Leonard Lloyd Jordan; his brother and sisters, John and Sharon Jordan, Garnet Warren and Judy and Jim Kotrba; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dale and Laurel Sills, Karen and Ken Pinkham, Dick and Diana Sills, Bob and Martha Sills and Wilhelmina Jordan.
He was preceded by his son-in-law, Raymond Copper; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bud Mentzer; brother, Kenneth Jordan; brother-in-law, Ron Warren; and his parents, James M. and Avalda Jordan.
The family would like to thank the Mercy Medical Center hospice team for its loving care.
