Carol Ann Penningroth Peyton, 76, of Shelbyville, Ky., died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville, following an illness.
A native of Coggon, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Ruth Penningroth and the widow of Harold Ray "Doc" Peyton. She graduated from high school as valedictorian of her class. Her career started at Bendix Corporation in Iowa as a computer data entry operator and progressed to supervisor of that department. She met and married Doc Peyton and lived in Coggon, Cedar Rapids and Davenport before relocating to Shelbyville in 1970.
In addition to her husband and parents, one sister, Pat Trefz, preceded her in death.
Survivors include four children, Curtis Lee (Lavonna) Peyton, Cara Renee (William) Puckett, Clinton Ray Peyton and Christopher Alan Peyton; one sister, Sandra (Ron) Wright; eight grand-children, Lisa Wise, Cameron Wise, Marissa Puckett, Shanna Hernandez, Jeffrey Gylden, Justin Gylden, Tory Peyton and Matthew Howell; and two great-grandchildren, Tayte Hernandez and Teigan Hernandez.
Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Henry Christian Church, Eminence, Ky. In accordance with her wishes, cremation followed the service. The cremated remains will be interred in a private ceremony at Grove Hill Cemetery.
