Alcoa's Davenport plant will be one of three Alcoa operations globally to supply a $1 billion order from Airbus for Aluminum sheet and plate.
The agreement was reached this week at the Paris Air Show by executives of both companies. Details were not disclosed.
Alcoa's aluminum solutions will be used across virtually all Airbus commercial aircraft programs, the companies said. Alcoa will also supply the contract from its Kitts Green plant in the United Kingdom and its Belaya Kalitva plant in Russia.
Earlier this month Alcoa launched a number of new aerospace solutions including new proprietary alloys and advanced structural technologies that will lower the weight, cost and maintenance of new aircraft, compared to composites.
