An eastern Iowa man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder.
The charge is related to a shooting in the home of 31-year-old Anthony Podnar in January. His father, 60-year-old Adam Podnar, says he was shot in the stomach.
Anthony Podnar was arrested Jan. 12 at home in Asbury, which is just west of Dubuque, after his father drove himself to a local convenience store and reported being shot. Adam Podnar was taken to a hospital and treated.
Dubuque Public Defender Steve Hodge says Anthony Podnar entered written pleas of not guilty to the attempted murder charge and a second charge of going armed with intent. That stems from an argument with his brother Alexander, who says he was threatened too.
Hodge declined to comment on the case Wednesday.
