Alan J. Kasal of Park Forest, Ill., formerly of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Dec. 23, 2020, of advanced heart

failure at age 54.

Alan was born to Edwin and Lois (King) Kasal in June 1966 and graduated from BGM Community Schools in 1985. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps until 1992. He served as an aircraft bomber technician and during enlistment he was also stationed in Okinawa, Japan, as a radar technician for ANTPS1 Delta radar systems.

Alan married Neva Foster in 1992 and they had two children, Marie Kasal and Brian (fiancee Jenna Sprague) Kasal, both of the Chicago, Ill., area. They eventually separated but remained good friends. Alan was especially proud of his children and loved them dearly.

After the service, Alan was employed most of his career in the surveillance and security equipment industry and as a loyal employee he installed and repaired equipment for commercial and residential customers.

Alan was a fun loving guy who liked to laugh with friends and family and made light of any troubles he may have encountered. He was a loyal Packers fan and liked comedy and action movies, James Bond, antiques, original GI Joes and muscle cars with his latest being a 2018 Dodge Challenger.

Survivors include his children; siblings, Susan (Ken) Stinson, Robins, Iowa, Dale (Julie) Kasal, Chelsea, Iowa, Mark (Christina) Kasal, Montezuma, Iowa, and Sara (Harold) Why, Sun Prairie, Wis.; and two aunts, Blanche Manfull of Tama, Iowa, and Eva Kasal of Chelsea, Iowa. nine nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
