She is survived by her son, James and wife Jill Hidinger; a daughter Barbara Hidinger; four grandchildren, Justin, Andrea and Eric Osmundson, and Heather Losch; and four great-grandchildren, Noah and Eden Losch and Kiley and Sydney Mayland, all of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Fred Veach of Kirksville, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Hidinger of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, George Hidinger; and her sister, Norma Veach of Kirksville, Mo.
Marjorie was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Downing, Mo., to Laurence and Bessie Barb. She married George Hidinger in Iowa City on August 10, 1947.
She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University), Kirksville, Mo. She taught various business subjects at the high school level and worked as a secretary at Northeast Missouri State and the University of Iowa. She also worked in various capacities in the Cedar Rapids public schools. She and her husband George came to Cedar Rapids in 1951, when he accepted the position of head football coach at Roosevelt High School. Marjorie and George were very active members of Calvary Baptist Church since 1951, where she served as Sunday school teacher, deaconess and on various committees. George and Marjorie spent their adult lives as mentors of young people - as teachers, coach, parents and grandparents. We miss them dearly.
