Mary J. Kramer, 85, of Manchester, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Meadows Assisting Living Center, Manchester.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, at Kramer Funral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where the rosary will be said at 2 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at St. John's Catholic Church in Delhi, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. John Kremer will officiate.
Mary was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Magdalena (Theis) Egloff. On April 7, 1953, Mary married Charles F. Kramer at St. Francis Xavier Church, Dyersville. Together they farmed in the Delhi area until purchasing a farm north of Earlville in 1970. They retired from farming in 2003. They continued living on the farm until Jan. 22, 2005, at which time they moved to their new home in Manchester.
Mary and Charlie enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico, and also enjoyed the Caribbean Cruise they took for their 50th anniversary. She loved spending time with her family, shopping, collecting bells, gambling trips and using her computer.
Left to mourn her passing include her seven children: Susan (Lester) Felton, Monticello, Mark (Lisa) Kramer, Earlville, Mike "Smiley" (Cindy) Kramer, Dyersville, Charles A. (Brenda) Kramer, Manchester, Cathy (Greg) Wolfe, Dyersville, Linda (Tim) Lawson, Manchester, and Scott (Melody) Kramer, North Liberty; daughter-in-law. Kelli Kramer of Grain Valley, Mo.; 20 grandchildren: Cynthia and Christopher (Jessie) Kramer, Angie (Nick) Creech and Amber (Bob) Carroll, Ashley, Allisan, Matthew and Ryan Kramer, Craig, Curt (Amanda) Kramer and Amanda (Chris) Steiner, Adam and Alex Kramer, Tyler, Justin and Nicole Wolfe, Devin and Zachary Lawson, Madison and Dustin Kramer; and six great-grandchildren: Braden and Jackson Creech, Brianna and Bryce Carroll, Carter Steiner and Christina Anderson. Also surviving are two sisters, Rita Russ, Monticello, and Alice (Tony) Russ, Hopkinton.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2005; a son, Steven, in 2001; a granddaughter, Bethany Lawson, in 1999; her parents; siblings, Clarence and Alvina in infancy, Robert (Adele) Egloff, Lorraine (James) Dunkel and Rosie (Vince) Vorwald; and in-laws, Nick Russ, Gertrude (Alphonse) Ries, Clarence (Irene) Kramer, Margaret (Leonard) Kramer, Alphonse "Shorty" (Irene) Kramer, Alvin (Lucinda) Kramer, Larry (Millie) Kramer and Rose Mary (Earl) Tegeler.
We would like to thank Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Medical Associates, Regional Medical Center, Good Neighbor Society and The Meadows in Manchester for all their care. We would also like to thank everyone for their kindness and their generosity towards Mom.
