STEVE "SPEEDO" CLAIR

Steve "Speedo" Clair, 65, lost his courageous battle with COPD on March 24, 2017.
Steve was born May 31, 1951, in Cedar Rapids. Shortly after graduating from Jefferson High School in 1970, he enlisted in the Army, where he drove tanks in Germany. Later returning home, he attended Kirkwood Community College and became an auto technician for the next 35 years.
He loved sports, especially softball, racing and most of all bowling. Some of his most memorable times were at the bowling center, where he coached and mentored many. Steve loved to be a husband, father, papa and friend to all.
He is survived by his mother, Lois (Jim) Ryan of Hiawatha; siblings, Jerry Clair, Bill (Sharon) Clair, Tony (Tina) Sykora, Mike (Beth) Sykora, Marcia Hunt, Mike (Renee) Clair and Ed (Lisa) Clair. Also left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Deborah Clair; daughter, Janelle Brashaw; son, Dustin (Ashley) Clair; and grandchildren, Ashlyn, Anastyn and Alivayn Brashaw, Kayden, Landry and Stryker Clair.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Clair; sister, Mary Reed; and brother, Frank Clair.
Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where full military rites will be conducted. A gathering will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge on West Post Road SW.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
