Randy Dobbins, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at his home.
Randy was born July 23, 1954, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Claire and Viola (Streigle) Dobbins. He grew up around Hayesville and lived most of his life in the Sigourney area. Randy graduated from Sigourney High School in 1972.
In 1973, he married Cathy Green. The couple had three children, Dustin, Jesse and Amy. They later divorced.
Randy worked for Century Motors in Sigourney for 12 years, and later started his own business in 1978, Randy's Repair, which he had for 37 years until retiring in 2015. He loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He met his longtime companion, Helen Bombei, and they were united in marriage on June 19, 2004, in Sigourney. They enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, spending time together and enjoying all their grandkids. He lived his life to the fullest, and never met a stranger.
His survivors include his wife, Helen Bombei-Dobbins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, Dustin of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Jesse of Sigourney, Iowa; daughter, Amy (Chris) Rohde of Waukee, Iowa; six grandchildren, Cedric, Gavin, Trinity, Sadie, Adelyn and Karsyn; stepchildren, Matt (Heather) Bombei, Heather (Mike) Anderson, Mindy (Shane) Morse and Val (Brown) Montague; six siblings, Terry (Jackie) Dobbins, Allen (Cathy) Dobbins, Rick (Dottie) Dobbins, Connie (Gary) Hanchett, Pam (Dave) Wood and Nola (Jim) Sharp; and several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; sister- and brother-in-law, Sondra and Jack Flanegin; nieces, Tammy Dobbins and Angie Hanchett; and great-niece, Shelby Davis.
He will be missed very much by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Powell Funeral Home, Sigourney. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. In lieu of flowers, memorials are for UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Foundation for the Hospice unit.
