HOBART DARRELL CONNER

Hobart Darrell Conner, 84, died April 29, 2016, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. He was born April 21, 1932, in Sigourney to Ellis Curtis Conner and Ola Belle Hermanstofer Conner. Darrell attended rural Keokuk County schools and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1949 and from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1953. On Aug. 2, 1953, he married Doris Mae Rockwell in Sigourney. Darrell owned his own construction business in the Sigourney area for over 40 years.
Darrell served on the Keokuk County Conservation Board, Conservation Heritage Foundation, was a member of the Izaak Walton, and was a Sigma Phi Epsilon while at Iowa Wesleyan College. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, making rugs on a loom, polishing stones, making jewelry, weaving baskets, carving, old cars and helping with MotorIoway.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris, on Feb. 24, 2016; son, Drew Conner; and sister, Darlene Conner Steen.
He is survived by his children, Dirk Alan (SuzAnn) Conner of Fairbank, Darci Anne Conner Farnum of Estherville and Dustin Dee Conner of Wellman; four grandchildren, Luke Ellis (Bethany) Conner, Ethan William Conner, Graye Conner Farnum and fiancee Payton, and David Farnum; one great-grandchild, Chelsea Saphira Conner; and brother-in-law, Charles Steen.
Celebration of Life: 1 p.m. Friday at Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney, Visitation: 5 8 p.m. Thursday at Holm Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established.
