Holt, Jerry Lyle

Jerry Lyle Holt, 76, of Sigourney, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

He was born Aug. 6, 1936, to John Lyle and Virginia (Pfaff) Holt in Sigourney. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1954. On June 29, 1957, he married Mary Martha Devine at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. Jerry served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He was employed by Holt Clothing, Conner Brothers Construction and later Wagler Motors in Sigourney.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Jerry enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, cooking and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Ryan Holt.

He is survived by his wife, Martha of Sigourney; children, Steve (Carol) Holt of Overland Park, Kan., Cathy (Tim) Hermsen of Overland Park, Kan., Tim (Lisa) Holt of Eden Prairie, Minn., Chris Holt (Emory Bevill) of Lewes, Del., Brian (Anne) Holt of Bonner Springs, Kan., and Matt Holt (Kelly Thomas) of Kirksville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Caitlin, John, Joe, Annie, Brenna, David, Meghan, Ashley and Caroline; a sister, Joan Liebus of Oskaloosa; and a brother, John Holt of Issaquah, Wash.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14,  at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sigourney, where visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established for St Mary's Catholic Church, Essence of Life Hospice or a memorial of your choice.
