Teresa L. Canfield, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Garner will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, where there will be a vigil service at 4 p.m.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann (Tracy) Marshbanks of Lisle, Ill., Kathleen (Michael) Loftus of Janesville, Wis., Julia (Gary) Hawkins of Hiawatha and Susan (Jeffrey) Quigle of West Des Moines; three sons, Michael (Mary Jo) of Naperville, Ill., Patrick (Bonnie) of Shueyville and Matthew (Nannette) of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Allie, Ben, Alex, Rachel, Talia, Margo, Sara, Brenna, Abby and Clair; and six great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a sister, Patricia Boland; and a brother, Jerome Wilde.
Teresa was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil and Anna Wilde. She married Robert E. Canfield on Feb. 19, 1955, in Cedar Rapids. Robert passed away in 2003.
Teresa received her teaching degree from Clarke College in Dubuque and taught in both Newhall and Atkins for a short time after graduation. She later devoted her time and talent to her family. Teresa was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and Fourscore.
She enjoyed hiking, picnicking, camping, cooking and trips with her husband and family to Door County in Wisconsin.
Teresa will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
