Ed R. Haptonstall, 61, of Onslow, died Saturday evening, Aug. 30, 2014, at Jones Regional Medical
Center in Anamosa. Memorial services for Ed will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where friends may call after noon Wednesday.
Edward was born Feb. 5, 1953, son of Alton and Blanche Joanne Stanton Haptonstall. He married Linda Lacey on Feb. 15, 2002, in Nebraska. She survives. Ed served honorably in the U.S. Army for 18 years. He was working as a welder with Welter Storage and Equipment in Monticello.
He enjoyed target shooting on the range, and to hunt, fish and trap and spend time in the outdoors. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Linda of Onslow; daughter, Gail Haptonstall of Anamosa; four stepchildren, Brian Marr of Oxford Junction, Gary (Kelly) Marr of Hudson, Dennis (Linda) Marr of Elizabeth, Colo., and Kimberly (Jeremy) Krutzfeld of Oxford Junction; six grandchildren; and two brothers, John (Eloise) Haptonstall of Smithland, Iowa, and Bob of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Memorials are preferred.
