Cynthia Anne Hamilton, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, after a 20-year battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, where visitation begins at noon. Inurnment: 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine Blanchett of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Hannah and Norah Blanchett, Lily, Caylee and Ali Parks, all of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Cindy Parks; her parents, George and Joyce Bulen of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Wayne (Terri) Bulen of Arbela, Mo.; and her sister, Cathy Bailey of Brooklyn. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chad Parks; son-in-law, Steven Blanchett; and grandparents, George and Ida Bulen and Steve and Katherine Steffenson.
Cynthia was born April 14, 1957, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of George and Joyce Bulen. She worked for Westside Estates Care Center, Aging Services and the Cedar Rapids school system. She loved working with children, making crafts, and being a Sunday school teacher at New Covenant.
Cynthia had a very strong Christian belief in God and spread her love to everyone she met.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul, a new day is dawning for Cindy with Jesus. I will worship His holy name.
