Democrats to honor former Eastern Iowa Congressman Nagle

Former Eastern Iowa U.S. Rep. Dave Nagle will be inducted into the Iowa Democratic Party's Hall of Fame Aug. 5 at Drake University in Des Moines.
Nagle, who served in Congress from 1987 to 1993, will be recognized as the 2011 Outstanding Elected Official.
AFSCME Political Director Marcia Nichols will be honored as the 2011 Outstanding Activist.
“Dave Nagle and Marcia Nichols have both worked selflessly to advance Democratic principles and keep our state strong,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky. “We're very excited to welcome Democrats from across the state to this event as we recognize their achievements, along with our other award winners.”
Nagle, a Waterloo attorney, was a strong voice for the state of Iowa and his constituents in what was then the 3
rd
District, Dvorsky said.
Nichols has been a champion for workers rights throughout her career in politics, she added.
The 2011 Hall of Fame Celebration will be in Parents Hall at Drake University beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 5.
