Jaxon Russell Flitsch, 18, of Alburnett, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Dan Peterson. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett.
Jaxon is survived by his parents, Mark and Julie Flitsch of Alburnett; twin brother, Jacob Flitsch of Alburnett; paternal grandmother, Eleanor Flitsch of Alburnett; aunt, Terri Mengler of Cedar Rapids; uncles, Matthew "Bingo" Flitsch of Alburnett, Mike (Julie) Flitsch of Central City and Marvin Flitsch of Alburnett, and Melvin Flitsch of Cedar Rapids; significant other, Laura Proper of Marion; and many cousins and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Russell Flitsch; and maternal grandparents, Evan and Elizabeth Mengler.
Jaxon was born June 17, 1998, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Mark and Julie (Mengler) Flitsch. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 2016. While attending Alburnett, he participated in football, wrestling and basketball. He was a national finalist in the Life Smart Contest. Jaxon was currently a student at Kirkwood Community College and working at Lefty's Convenience Store in Alburnett.
