Matthew D. Moore, 47, died March 1, 2016, at Herrmann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas, from complications of Influenza A.
Matt was born Oct. 22, 1968. His parents are Beverly (Earl) Haberman of Dubuque and the late Harry Moore of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Matt graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and Iowa State College with B.S. and M.S. in acoustical engineering. He also earned an executive M.B.A. from the 2010 class at Arizona State University. Matt worked for Boeing in Everett, Wash., for 18 years and holds 33 patents. For the last year he worked for Siemens USA.
On Aug. 1, 2001, Matt married Joanna Szydlo. She also worked for Boeing and they traveled extensively for their work and vacationed in many different countries.
Matt loved being active, enjoying golf, biking, hiking, skiing, traveling and exploring the many sites in his beloved Arizona.
He was a kind and gentle soul, a loving husband, son and friend, who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Matt is survived by his wife, Joanna of Goodyear, Ariz.; his mother, Beverly, and stepfather, Earl, of Dubuque; his mother- and father-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and his aunts, uncle and many cousins.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, Harry Moore, Scottsdale, Ariz.; his uncles, Larry Moore, Marion, and Earl Bufton, Tallahassee, Fla.; and his grandparents, Earl and Velna Bufton and Elmer and Naomi Moore of Marion.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. March 11 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque. Interment will be in Arizona at a later date.
