Schedule changed at Independence Motor Speedway

In another round of early-season schedule shakeups, Independence Motor Speedway announced Thursday that the MLRA Late Models have been removed from the schedule. The tour was scheduled to make a stop at Independence on May 10, and that portion of the show will not be rescheduled. All other classes will race on May 10.

INDEPENDENCE -- MLRA Late Models have been removed from the May 10 event at Independence Motor Speedway.

While the MLRA portion of that show will not be rescheduled, the May 10 program in Independence will still include weekly points racing for all five weekly divisions.

The season is set to kick off next Saturday, April 12, with the annual Indee Drivers Day Car Show on the streets of downtown Independence from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. A test and tune session is scheduled at the fairgrounds that afternoon from 1-5 p.m.

The first racing action of the season is scheduled for Friday, April 18, when the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders Series highlights the Open Wheel Shootout. Unsanctioned Modifieds and SportMods will also compete April 18.

Weekly points racing gets underway Saturday, April 26, in all five weekly divisions, including IMCA Late Models, Xteme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
