GEORGE OSWEILER
Loving husband, father and grandfather
New Port Richey, Fla.
George Osweiler, 82, of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Friday, July 29, 2016.
George was born in North English, Iowa. He was the son of the late George Joseph and Wilhomena "Minnie" (Vogel) Osweiler.
George is survived by his wife of 47 years, Louise "Sue" (DeNolf) Osweiler; three sons, Gregory (Laura) of Sydney, Australia, Lance and Jeffrey (Melissa); two grandchildren, Miles and Ella, all of New Port Richey; two sisters, Annabell (John) Reader of Cedar Rapids and Mary (Tom) Bueter of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
George was in the Navy for four years and was a Korean War veteran. He was co-owner with two brothers, Charles and Victor, of the Osweiler Hardware Store in Shell Rock, Iowa, for seven years. He was a union electrician of IBEW Local 357 of Las Vegas, Nev. After retiring in 1996, he moved to New Port Richey. As a "jack of all trades," George was always fixing something. He enjoyed playing cards (particularly cribbage), fishing and especially looked forward to annual fishing charters with his son Jeff and grandson Miles.
George was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletus, Victor, Charles and Donald; and one sister, Martina.
A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family following, until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish.
