Betty Jean Hall, 71, of Lisbon, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Celebration of Life Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Mattson presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Betty was born July 21, 1943, in Mason City, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Rodemaker) Walk. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1961. Betty married John Hall on Nov. 25, 1961, in Grafton. Betty raised her family and also worked at Hallmark, and provided in-home daycare for many years. She enjoyed shopping, and being with her family, especially her grandkids and daycare kids.
Betty is survived by her husband of over 52 years, John; her children, Angela (Larry) Baxa and Brian (Amy) Hall, both of Lisbon; six grandkids, Michael (Amber) Hall, Seth (Carlie) Hall, Stacia Hall, Jennie (Lance) Zerbe and Justin Baxa (Samantha); and five great-grandkids, Madelynn, Breklynn, Jadan, Gavin and Gable.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Claude, Donald and Glenn "Buddy" Walk; two sisters, Fern Dalluge and Ruby Bork; and a granddaughter, Kylie Hall.
A memorial fund has been established in her name at Bridge Community Bank in Solon.
