Bertha H. Schuchmann, 88, of rural Arlington, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017, at her home while being cared for by her family.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour before the service on Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington. Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.
Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington, is assisting the family.
Memorial fund: St. John Lutheran Church, Starmont Music Booster Club and Arlington Fire Department & Arlington Emergency Medical Service (EMS).

Bertha is survived by two sons, Kevin Duane Schuchmann (Patti), Dyersville, and Steven Lynn Schuchmann, Arlington; two daughters, Darla Dee Butikofer (Tom), Clermont, and Sue Ellen Becker (Greg), Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Becker (Karen Shook), Elizabeth Becker (Ben Lewis), Sydney Butikofer (Christopher Alvarez), Valerie, Luke and Lance Butikofer and Willow and Graham Schuchmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marian Schuchmann, Strawberry Point, Fred and Terri Schuchmann, Naples, Fla., Melvin and Carole Schuchmann, Solon, and Art and Ida Mae Johnson, Cedar Rapids; her cats; and beloved dog, Herky, who had been her faithful companion for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on March 13, 2011; an infant son, Randy Paul, in 1956; her parents; a brother-in-law, Irvin "Bud" Schuchmann; and two sisters-in-law, Greta Schuchmann and Lois Schuchmann.
