Garringer, James Benton 'Doc'
James Benton “Doc” Garringer died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 84 years.
She is survived by his wife, Anne of Williamsburg; six children, Kenneth Garringer of Williamsburg, Patty Garringer of Millersburg, Mary and husband Don Grimm of Williamsburg, Jan and husband Steve Fick of Cedar Rapids and Ray and wife Fonda Garringer and Paul and wife Chris Garringer, both of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren: Mitch Fick, Ashley (Brandon) Dietrich, Bryson Garringer, Rachel Fick, Trenton Garringer, Lance Garringer, Austin Hilligas, Anna Garringer and Breanne Garringer; and two brothers, Charles (Jan) Garringer of Conroy and Dean (Gwen) Garringer of Phillips, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and eight brothers, Glenn, Donald, Al, Marvin, Frances, Arnold, Robert and Ronald.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Father Joseph Roost will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Williamsburg, with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg, where there will be a VFW service at 7 p.m. and a rosary service immediately following.
A memorial fund has been established for the St. Mary's Cemetery Fund or donor's choice.
