Willa Mae Brown, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Gospel Tabernacle Church, 2531 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Willa was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Vian, Okla., the daughter of William and Callie (Dotson) Hardin. She married William V. Brown on Nov. 12, 1949, in Jackson, Miss. Willa worked at Cherry Burrell for 15 years. She also was a CNA and a beautician. She had an everlasting love for spreading the gospel of the Lord. Willa was a devoted missionary who opened her home to everyone. She shared her joy of faith by singing at church and also her love of fellowship while cooking at home.
Willa is survived by her sons, Vernon Brown of Cedar Rapids, Vincent Brown (Victoria Bagirov) of Las Vegas, Nev., Victor (Sandy) Brown of Cedar Rapids and Jason (Jody) Brown of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Lance Moreland; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and close family friend, LaQuesta Doolin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Callie; husband, William V.; son, Gary Brown; daughter, Vanessa Moreland; and sister, Jewel Beaudreaux.
A memorial fund has been established.
