Wells, Zelma 'Nana'
Zelma “Nana” Wells, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Dr. T. Edwards Breed officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Chris Calef (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, and Marc Ozmun (Julie) of Swisher; great-grandchildren, Danny Matthews, Jordan Calef, Gavin Ozmun and Makayla Ozmun; and special companion, Lance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son; son, William; and daughter, Kay.
Zelma M. Roepke was born April 15, 1919, in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of August and Amelia (Ott) Roepke. On Oct. 2, 1940, she married Verle Wells. Verle died in 1986.
Nana managed the GNC Store in Lindale Mall for 30 years. She was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
