Adam "Gene" Schreier, 89, of Charles City, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at the Hospice In-patient Unit in Mason City. A funeral Mass for Gene Schreier will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour before Mass Saturday at the church.
Living family members include his children, Michael (Vicky) Schreier of Lexington, Ky., Teresa (David) Bennett of Cedar Rapids, Lance Schreier of Charles City and Tim Schreier of Hoboken, N.J.; two grandchildren, Travis and Ryan Bennett; sister, Marietta (Stanley) Nelson of Brookings, S,D.; niece, Sherry (Dale) Sovell of Ivanhoe, Minn., and their two children; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine on Oct. 11, 2011; sister, Margretta; and brother, Michael who died in the Pacific during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City.
