Friest, Ron L.
Ron L. Friest, 69, passed from this life on Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010, at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines, with inurnment at Phoenix.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1941, in Eagle Grove, the son of Joseph and Emma (Johnson) Friest. Ron graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1958, and married Berneice LeClere on Oct. 23, 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Ron was a real estate broker in Cedar Rapids and Phoenix.
Ron is survived by his wife, Berneice; daughter, Joann Friest-White and husband Jack; grandson, Jeremiah Friest-White, all of Phoenix; sister, Frances Sadler of Boone; and brother, Roger (Lyllis) Friest of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lance; brothers, Jim and E.A. (Bud) Friest; and sister, Mazelle Carlsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Easter Seals.
