Crane, Lance
Lance Crane, 54, of Victor, died Aug. 7, 2009, at Rosehaven Nursing Home in Marengo. A private family burial will be Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Hillside Cemetery in State Center, with the Rev. Michael Kolesar, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Victor, officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30 to 8:30 tonight at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Lake Iowa Nature Center in Iowa County.
Lance was born Oct. 4, 1954, in Oceanside, Calif., the son of Ralph and Kathleen Hartwig Crane. He was raised in Oceanside and attended Oceanside High School. Following his education he moved to Victor in 1975. On May 1, 1977, he was married to Candace DeDecker at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. The couple lived in Victor and he was employed for Bushong Construction for 13 years and later for several local concrete, companies including Manatt's for several years.
Lance became a baptized member of St. James Lutheran Church on June 10, 2009. He was very devoted to his family and loved sharing his time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Lakers.
Survivors include his wife, Candace of Victor; two children, Brandon Crane of Victor and Ellyssa Crane of Guernsey; two grandchildren, Brock Crane of Victor and Alayna Setala of Guernsey; and two sisters, Candice Crane of Des Moines and Jana Crane of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Damien Crane.
